Fortunately for you there is a global record, but it was only kept by decade and it only started in 1927. If you are more interested in what the weather was like in 1920, you're in better luck. Either Google search on CLimate Record and search inside those results for Omaha 1920, or start here: www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/ncdc.html
Advanced weather data is available from the NCDC or National Climatic Data Center. Some of it is free, some of it is not. Check the additional links below for more information. The 1908 Atlantic hurricane season ran through the summer and the first half of fall in 1908. The season was near average with 10 tropical cyclones forming during the season. This season got off to a very early start, with a Category 2 hurricane forming on March 6, making it the earliest hurricane on record to form in the Atlantic Basin. Another hurricane formed and existed entirely during the month of May. Cape Hatteras got affected by two hurricanes and one tropical storm that year. The strongest storm of the season was a Category 3 in mid-September that moved across the central Bahamas and turned out to sea. A Category 2 hurricane in late September and early October crossed the Lesser Antilles, moved over Hispaniola and eastern Cuba, and crossed over the Bahamas before turning northeast. It caused extensive damage to the Greater Antilles. In mid-October, a Category 2 hurricane struck Nicaragua.

In the United States, in 1743, Benjamin Franklin tracked a hurricane for the first time. It was the first recorded instance in which the progressive movement of a storm system was recognized. In 1869, Cleveland Abbe began a weather reporting system in Cincinnati, Ohio and published a weather bulletin which contained his first weather forecast on September 1, 1869. A photo gallery of the development of the US Weather Bureau is available here: http://weather.about.com/od/weatherhistory/ig/US-Weather-Bureau-History/ In 1847, the first weather warnings were issued via telegraph. Then, in 1847, Increase A. Lapham issued a first forecast. In 1870, the National Weather Service was born. In Australia, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued its first weather forecast on January 1, 1908. The British Broadcasting Company's first weather forecast was broadcast on radio on November 14, 1922 in London. The forecast was prepared by the Met Office. From March 26, 1923, these weather forecasts became a daily service.
