it depends on class as almost everything did I only know the earl sort of wedding so I'll explain that 1 if you were an earls daughter you would leave your house on side saddle with the father guiding the reins to the alter once there the father would take the daughters arm and escort her over to her new husband from then they would say there vows to each other to love honor and obey then they went to the church once again on horse back once there the priest would give the groom the kiss of peace and he would transfer it to his wife once done they went and had a feast then to conceive

Curious question. Shakespeare lived in Elizabethan times, he had no choice. He certainly enjoyed writing and the whole theatrical business. He might have written differently if he had lived in different times.
