Iraq was primarily equipped with tanks, jets, artillery, missiles (Silkworm), and small arms purchased from Communist China. Red Chinese equipment was less expensive than the former Soviet equipment. Although France did supply Iraq with Mirage jets, these were simply added to the numbers of CHICOM (Chinese Communist) J6's (CHICOM versions of the Soviet MiG19). The AK-47 is the most widely produced assault rifle in the world, and Iraq is no different than any other nation that has them...they can get them anywhere...but primarily North Korea and Red China. Note: During Desert Storm Iraqi jets FLED into Iran. During Iraqi Freedom they chose NOT to fight.
During WW 1. 1917-1919. Tear gas and herbicides were used in Vietnam in the 1960s- 1970s. In addition to the above, the US has used chemical weapons and other weapons with long-term horrendous effects on the civilian population in a war against Iraq and even in other countries. The Iraqi people are living in a poisoned land. The US used uranium weapons and white phosphorus and burned large amounts of chemicals in open pits outside their hundreds of bases in Iraq. This has seriously affected the civilian population of Iraq. Even American Iraq veterans are seriously ill. Weapons with depleted uranium were previously used during the first Gulf War in 1991. The city of Basra; in Iraq; suffered harshly. Uranium weapons as well as white phosphorus were used by the US against the civilian Iraqi population in year 2004. Many deformed children have been born since then. In many Iraqi cities children suffer from deformities, cancer and other illnesses.
Iraq possibly DID use chemicals during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988).
Which Gulf War? 1. Iran-Iraq War 1980-1988 2. Operation Desert Storm Jan/Feb '91 3. Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003- You again? I'm so sick of this. Have you ever heard of the War of 1812, the Texan Revolution, and the Mexican-American War? Or do you know them as the First, Second, and Third Gulf of Mexico Wars?
The United States had previously supplied Iraq with supplies during the Iran-Iraq War, including missiles, tanks, airplanes, etc. These supplies were put to use again in the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991, but the United States was opposed to Iraq in that war and did not supply Iraq additionally for its invasion of Kuwait.
WW2 was the last official declaration of war conducted by the US. The Korean & Vietnam Wars were fought against communism (cold war) as "LIMITED WARS", limited to the use of "Conventional Weapons" (No Nukes). Since the Vietnam War ended in 1975, the US has conducted Military Operations: 1. Operation Urgent Fury-Grenada (1983) 2. Just Cause-Panama (1989) 3. Desert Storm-Iraq (Jan-Feb 1991) 4. Restore Hope-Somalia (1993) 5. Bosnia Military Operations (Mid 1990's) 6. Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan (2001 to present) 7. Iraqi Freedom-Iraq (2003 to present)

Chemical weapons were used in Iraq in the 1970s and 1980s to attack Kurds living in the North of the country as part of an intentional genocide against the Kurdish people. In addition, these weapons were also used by Iraq against the Iranians during the Iran-Iraq War.
As members of the United Nations, Iran and Iraq are bound by the Geneva Conventions which clearly prohibit the use of chemical and biological weapons. Both countries, but Iraq moreso, used these types of horrific weapons during the Iran-Iraq War. In Iraq, they were also used against the indigenous Kurdish population in the north of the country.

Iraq would not admit to having certain weapons programs Iraq was linked to global terrorism. Iraq was part of the "axis of evil." But that Iraq and Saudi Arabia were planning to join forces was not.
I do not have the power to bomb anything or anyone. As for whether anyone should use nuclear weapons, I am fervently opposed to that idea.
