Jefferson F. Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America. He also was a U.S. Senator and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Mississippi. He was the U.S. Secretary of War. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Mexican-American War.
No major achievements.
He had had a respectable record as a Colonel in the Mexican War. He was also known as a good advertisement for slave-owning, as he was particularly kind to his slaves - unusual in Mississippi ('down the river').
In the Civil War, he was appointed President against his will. He had hoped to be made General-in-Chief. Perhaps for that reason, he never appointed anyone to this post until near the end, too late to make any difference.
He failed to control either his Generals or his cabinet, and did not impress the Southern public as a political leader. When things got difficult, he did not go out on the stump and give morale-raising speeches. He just stayed at his desk and issued appeals for loyalty.
If you're casting around for a success on his part, you could cite his selection of Robert E. Lee to command the Army of Northern Virginia after the serious wounding and hospitalising of Joseph E. Johnston. But Lee was not exactly his big discovery. Lincoln had earlier tried to put Lee in command of all the Union armies.
The Louisiana Purchase (1803) was one of Jefferson's important accomplishments.
