== == The Middle Passage was a disgusting travel from Africa to the United States. The slaves lived in their own filth and waste while laying arm to arm in a line on "shelves" that the ship had. The shelves had just enough room for a slave to fit on.

The second middle passage was the second part of the Triangular Slave Trade. This was the most dangerous and many lives were lost during the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean from Africa. They were shackled and forced to lie down for months, due to space constraints, in pools of excrement and blood. There wasn't enough food, so many died of starvation. If given the chance, some committed suicide by throwing themselves in the ocean. Getting "exercise," meant being brought up on deck and forced to dance by sailors using whips. Widespread rape of female slaves was a common occurrence. The mortality rate of slaves making the middle passage was 11%.

The condition of the middle passage was very disease ridden, dead people either stayed on the ship or were tossed overboard, death occurred by disease, famine, or lack of water, and everybody was lied down on the ship's deck where there wasn't even an inch of space between any two people. The middle passage had a very gruesome condition.

20% to 50% of slaves would die before they even arrived

they were cuffed together by the hand and feet

they would suffer from clostrephobia as they were all cooped together in small spaces

slaves woulf ofter die of suffacation with all the heat from each over

slaves would die of dehydration as they would only get 1 pint of water a day when it was very high tempretures

they would only get one bowl of rice which 20 of them would share

slaves would be so mentally tortued that they would jump other board

hope this helps - Marcus

Is the middle passage the triangle passage?

Not exactly. The Middle Passage was a part of the Triangular Trade (more prefferably than "Triangular Passage"). And this Triangular Trade was an international trade network at that time, among Europe,Africa, and America. It had three legs, or parts. The Middle Passage is the second leg, and also the most important. It is where the African slaves were exchaged for European goods like guns and crops.
