-The French king (king Francis I) was taken prisoner and was forced to sign the Treaty of Madrid which stated that he would give up Italy. He was released and he restarted the war with allies on his side

-The war ended with Francis and Charles signing the Peace of Cambria and Francis giving Charles back the Italian lands

- Charles made an alliance with the pope against the Turks

-The alliance failed so Charles made a 5-year treaty with the Turks
