Normally, there were many countries in Europe that started colonizing land in Asia, Africa, Australia (& nearby islands) & the Americas. Every country wanted a piece of land, or "a piece of the pie. Once the countries got too greedy, they wanted to be so powerful in military that they started unleashing wars on each other.

Generally southern Europe has an great history, as well as wonderful culture and people. the problem with Southern Europe is that always had lot of wars, and a very poor subsoil , as a result only Spain and Italy are rich.

There have been many conflicts in the European countries. For example WW2 and WW1 were all started in Europe. Before that there was the hundred years of war, the Roman wars and the Napoleonic wars. Europe has been a site of many cultures religions which has caused the many conflicts that Europe has had.
There is no record of the first war in Africa. As long as there have been people there have been wars. Wars are fought over access to resources, including land, cattle, minerals, slaves, markets, communication routes and defensible positions. There have been wars in Africa for as long as history has been recorded. And there were presumably wars before history was recorded.
