As time passed, the name America, was used to describe the colonies. Then, the United States of America, after independence was won from England, when the American Revolutionary War was over and done.

There were hundreds of Greek colonies that existed in ancient Greece. These included Apoikai, Cyme, and Zankle. Three more colonies were Alalia, Syracuse, and Thera.
There were three main forms of government in ancient Greece: Monarchy, Oligarchy and Democracy. I am unable to locate how the government of the Greek cities reflected the structure of the Greek families.

The African capital city with a name that translates to "three towns" is Tripoli, the capital of Libya. Tripoli is derived from the Greek "ΤĪίĪÎŋÎģΚĪ" which means "three cities."
