Women were the backbone of both World War 2 and World War 1 (And the Viet Nam War). Without the women joining the forces and working on the home front the wars could not have been waged. Women helped to build armament, planes, ships, ammunition and made Uniforms. The men could not leave home if the women did not take their places to keep the home front functioning. The nurses and female doctors all contributed to the front and back at home to substitute for the doctors at the front.
Many people forget the kids, teens, and young ladies who all made the war possible. They helped with all the volunteer work, recycling efforts and by taking care of themselves while their mothers worked.
In the US, Canada and England, many womwn took over the role in production factories that manufactured military and domestic equipment ranging from bullets to fighter planes and everying else in between. Without a constant flow of military, food and medical supplies, the allied military could not have kept on going. In addition, many US, Canadian and British women also saw live duty in the roles of nurses and medical doctors. Russian woman also did the same things and in addition, many Russian women saw active combat duty as soldiers.
Some of the benefits of wartime jobs for women are the opportunity to express patriotic pride and to earn money. Women working jobs during war and conflict serve a valuable purpose.
