They were to amend the Articles of Confederation.
The Delegates decided whether to ratify The Articles Of Confederation or our current Constitution. In doing so they created our amazing Representative Republic.
Which delegates voted to ratify the constitutions and their reasons for doing so? Thomas Jefferson
Because the probability increases that you are doing what you are supposed to do.
You can be arrested for breaking the law, not for doing what you're supposed to be doing.
Some of the disagreements at the constitutional convention were that the delegates didn't want to make a whole new form of government. They didn't want it to be to strong or weak so that one state was more superior than the other. The delegates resolved this by doing more than just revising the Articles of Confederation and wrote a whole new constition.

Convention is not a mathematical term: it means what is generally done or an accepted way of doing something.
