I don't have all the Stats but here is the Stats up through September 1944. Quoted from YANK magazine dated 29 Sept 1944. There were 698,911 Negroes in the Army at the end of June (1944) and 361,456 of them were serving overseas. A breakdown of the total Negro strength of the Amry were as follows: Infantry - 44,869
Coast and Field Artillery - 38,517
Cavalry - 1,473
Engineers - 128,789
Air Corps - 79,027
And all other branches - 406,236. There are 5,957 Negro officers, including 102 dental officers, 213 nurses, 508 Medical Corps officers and 239 chaplains. For a comparison, the total of all US Losses thru June 30, 1944: 1,279,000
the role of most African Americans in WWII was to take the jobs of the men who left to fight the war. Along side the women the made almost everything in the US at the time. and as for military roles they were cooks, of course their was the Tuskegee air men.
Discrimination existed within military policies. Black leaders continued to fight discrimination during the war. Blacks were not treated equally within the military.

Yes, Canadians were drafted into the Military during World War 2, most of these people were Blacks and other kinds of Mix-raced people.
