There are an abundance of reasons the Roman Empire fell, but the main reasons shall be discussed. One is that the Roman Empire fell from within. The modern world is frankly a reflection of the corruption and decay of morals. The empire was spoiled by debauchery and the indulgence of luxuries. Regardless that Augustus made adultery a crime during his reign, his conservative ways were soon dispatched and the immoralities ceased to die.
The Roman Empire also became entirely too expansive. They reached from Europe, to North Africa, to Asia Minor (the Middle East), and as far north as Scotland. They ruled over 2/5 of the world's population, and at the hands of merely a single emperor. It was too much to control. So much territory cannot be in one man's hands forever.
Christianity as well played a large roll. Generally, the Roman Empire was quite tolerant of other religions besides their own, but they were am exceedingly conservative empire. Every once in a while, a deranged, bloodthirsty emperor who for some unknown reason hated Christians and Jews wanted to put them to death, like the infamous Nero. This happened at times, and Christians were often persecuted, but it stopped when Constantine became a Christian and declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. Of course, it would not come easily. Their were still some devote believers in Jupiter and Apollo, and not all future emperors were Christians. For example. the emperor Julian tried to have a pagan revival, but he failed miserably. The Roman empire could not be entirely transformed by this change; they could not cope with it, and it was completely different from all their history.
The most notorious reason are the barbarians. Before I resume, the barbarians were not the modern meaning of the word. They were not savages, but merely individuals who were not Greek, not Roman, or not a Christian. As previously stated, the empire was too expansive. There were conquered peoples and other nations who, of course, wanted to fight against the Romans. Examples of these groups of people were the Visigoths (the most famous for sacking the capitol of Rome), Saxons, Lombard, Goths, Vandels, Scots, Celts, and many others, and it is purely and absolutely because of them that the modern world is the way it is. The fall of the Roman empire caused by the barbarians shaped the modern world. At one time the empire was divided in the west and east, and the fall of the western empire caused the Medieval era. So much of the knowledge that the Romans had achieved was lost or destroyed, and time dramatically fell backwards and people started over again. The modern world would be much more advanced if the Roman empire had not fallen so drastically. There would have been no Middle Ages, no Renaissance, no enlightenment or any other Neoclassical era.

What factors lead to the decline and fall of the Rome empire?

Three? A recent German study has come up with 210 reasons for the decline and fall of the Roman empire. (Don't worry, I won't list them all) Three of the main reasons were a population shift which caused pressure on the borders. The population shift came about because Germanic tribes were being pushed into Roman territory by Asian tribes. The Roman army at the fall, was weak and apathetic as there was no incentive for a strong army, such as loot and Roman citizenship for the auxiliaries. There was, in addition, a monetary factor, as more money left the empire than was taken in, due to excessive consumerism.
