Actually i would suggest , please don't use any chemicals or liquids for melting the plastic, and just keep focusing on the condition you are facing try to solving the proper solutions. Don't get confused or don't apply any wrong step for dissolve plastic without any knowledge.
So if you take my opinion you just need to find solutions in easy way and try to find out the more information by taking good advice from colleagues or proper Plumbing workers.
