it will get louder
2 1/8 hole drill
You can take a LONG steel pointed rod and punch out the baffles. The You don't have to remap or do anything. It sounds slightly louder..a nice sound and the throttle response increased from a ded stop. the baffles are not able to be removed since they're welded in place but you can drill them out or just punch through them.
My bike & many others have made the Mod known as "Hole Saw". It is simple. you put a dowel or something in the pipe for the mandrel's centering bit in a hole saw to drill into. Then saw the hole & remove aft baffels. The forward baffle (still there), makes the bike quieter than anti social straight pipes, but now it will sound like a cruiser. Mark
take the baffles out drill the rivet out if mfg. with or take the bolts out.

Most Harley Davidson mufflers have "2" sets of baffles. one in the rear and one in the front close to the location where the muffler meets the head pipe. I have found the best wat to remove these is to remove the mufflers, stand them on end on a padded surface ) a few towels will do) and use a piece of galvanized plumbing pipe and a hammer and knock the baffles in until they are flat against the inside of the muffler. But, if you remove the baffles you will also need to increase the flow of gas to the valves or you will burn them out. The Vance and Hines Fuelpack or the Harley CD download ( dealer only) will do the trick. The bike will run so much better once you let it breath. Good Luck

a drill, be careful ... ;)
You don't have to drill out the whole baffle. I put 3-3/8" holes in the front of each baffle and my 600 vlx has the low tone that I was looking for and the volume is enough to be heard on the road with out shaking my neighbors windows when I leave at 6 AM. So for I've had no popping on decel so I don't think I'll need to re-jet the carb. You may not have to rejet, however, most new bikes come from the factory a little on the 'lean' side, to satisfy emission requirements. Keep an eye on your plugs. If they run clean and white, you're too lean. Rejet before you damage the engine and enjoy the better performance.
Most people would drill a hole.
