You will only get a secondary voltage of half of what it is supposed to be. This is a hypothetical question because a 120 volt plug (cap) will not fit into a 240 volt receptacle. The pin configurations will not align up.

Can cell phones charge on both 110V and 230V?

Yes, if you have the appropriate adapter

Are Nintendo DS dual voltage?

No. While Nintendo manufactures AC adapters ('chargers') for both 230v and 110v locales, each charger works with only one voltage. For example, the USG-002(UKV) charger, supplied with DS Lites in the United Kingdom, only works with 230V. To use your Nintendo DS in a place with a different mains voltage from where you bought it, you'd need to buy another charger.

Can you charge your laptop battery in Norway?

Depends on your charger. If it can handle 230v, there should not be a problem. It should say on charger, for example 110-240v. And remember to bring a travel adaptor, if the charger don't have a EU-plug.

Can a Diode be used on a battery charger?

ya. we are using diode in a battery charger to convert ac into dc. 230v dc is step down by using step down transformer

Will a us car charger work in new zealand?

Mains voltage in new Zealand is 230v AC 50Hz. Mains plugs are 3-pin, with a vertical Earth, and two inclined pins for Phase and Neutral. (Same as Australia) If the charger you are referring to is the type that plugs into a cigarette lighter - these are common to all (?) cars.

Can you run a 12v device off 13.8v?

Yes, if the device has a built in step down transformer. Think of it this way, the electricity in your household is a typical 230v. Mobile phones tend to use 6v of electricity. So when you plug your phone charger into the wall socket, 230v will run directly into that charger, through the cable and into your phone, typically blowing up the device or overloading it. That's why the charger has a transformer in it (a step-down transformer) which steps down the voltage from 230v to about 6-12v. So hopefully that explains your question. If not, try to eleaborate a bit more so i can possible help further. Thank you.

How do you check amperage pull on a receptacle?

If you know the wattage is getting pulled from a receptacle you can use simple math to do it for you. If not you need to use an Ampere meter. This i do not recommend as there would be no simple way to do without having to use loose wires and such. To calculate this take the wastage and divide it by the voltage in your socket (Usually 230V but can also be 110V in some areas). To give you an example. a 60w bulb in a 230v area would pull. 60W/230v = 0.26ampere.

What do you need to use an European hairdryer in USA?

A European hairdryer operates on 230V. US power is 110V. The hairdryer will need a high power converter that will be fairly expensive. (110V input to 240V output rated at about 800W) It will be less expensive to buy a new one at Walmart when you get to the US than it will be to buy a converter for the European one.

It's the same thing. To make it even more confusing... your power source is 220v.

How do you design an inverter with input 12v dc to 230v ac?

A: Make the 230 AC into 12 DC or anything else in between. Then the input becomes immaterial as source An OR diode can decide the source
