If the car will start in neutral but not in park then you may have a bad transmission safety switch. That switch confirms that the car is in neutral or park before it allows the 'start' signal from the key switch to reach the solenoid.
the answer is the neutral saifty switch relays the starting signal to starter the neutral safety switch relays the starting signal to starter from ignition switch they look the same but plug up different make sure you have right neutral switch
It keeps the car from starting in gear. The starter will only engage in park or neutral.
Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter solenoid? Dead spot on starter? Bad neutral safety switch?
The neutral safety switch keeps the starter from engaging when the transmission is in any gear EXCEPT park or neutral. A faulty switch would either allow the starter to engage any time or not allow the starter to engage at any time.
crank sensor
ignition switch...baterry cables...starter...ALARM????
It prevents the starter from turning when the car is NOT in Park or Neutral, so that cars don't accidentally take of when starting.
It could be a dead battery, or corroded or otherwise faulty battery connections. Cables not tight enough for example. The starter motor could have failed. The starter solenoid may have failed. The starter switch may have failed. The gear selector not in Park or Neutral. Neutral Safety switch bad. Other wiring issues.
Seized Engine? Weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral or clutch safety switch?
Your neutral safety switch-try putting car in neutral and trying it
If it's not cranking at all, it could be the keyswitch, a bad connection somewhere, the starter or the neutral lockout switch.
Neutral switch? If you mean the neutral-safety switch, it's a switch that opens (prevents current from flowing) when your car is not in park or neutral. Without this switch, you would be able to turn the key and actuate the starter when your transmission is in reverse, drive and low range.
