Many different wiring systems for this component depending on control system.

Be care full using a test light may burn out regulator or vehicle computer, use only high impedance (digital display) volt meter.

The terminals should be labeled Bat (battery) hot at all times. Ground if it has a separate ground lead (should never be hot), Then IGN for the hot when switch is on or FLD for field supply from the regulator. On some units there is a second small bat lead to allow an internal regulator to sense the battery voltage.
