The key to weight loss, at any age, is simply eating and exercising
1st, you should compute your BMI, and then the number of calories your body needs to maintain your current weight. Do this by going to any good website. I suggest http:/www.revolutionhealth.com/calculators/daily-calorie-needs (an awesome one).
To loose approximately 2 pounds a week (it sounds slow, and will go much faster at first, but is the best way to loose and keep it off) you should eat approximately 500 calories less then needed each day, OR to exercises and burn it off (I do both and it speeds the process up, especially when you are down to 20 to 10 pounds to go).
For example, I am a 43 year old female, 5'7" tall, and weigh around 120 pounds. At complete rest my body needs 1725 calories to maintain that weight every day. When I want to loose weight, I will eat 1200 to 1300 calories every day.
Exercise should be part of your daily life anyway, so I suggest you workout 4 to 5 times a week. That should include 20 to 30 minutes of any type of cardio that keeps you interested. At first I walked (really fast) now I jog. You need to keep your heart rate up for 20 to 30 minutes. any additional workouts are extra. If you want to build muscle, you need to work with weights. Lower pounds more reps, burns calories, while, Higher pounds will rip/tear/heal and build muscle.
AND OF COURSE, check with your doctor. Have your game plan ready, explain what you want to do, have them give you a physical, and tell you that you are good to go......AND
Good Luck!!!

You might want to rephrase your question, but to lose one pound, you must lose one pound. Every 3500 calories is one pound.

Lose 10 pounds is a program which encourages people who are overweight to lose at lease 10 pounds in a certain amount of time. This program is also designed for people who want to lose more and that they could lose up to 10-40 pounds.
approx 150 a mile with a body weight of 280. 3500 calories in a pound of fat and burning 150 per mile. 23.333 miles to lose a pound.
* yes about 5 pounds This is wrong. There are 3500 calories in a pound. You must "lose" 3500 calories through diet or exercise to lose 1 pound. It would take a reduction of 17,500 calories to lose 5 pounds.
An elliptical workout would be great for toning or someone looking to lose an amount of weight. An elliptical workout is an complete workout, you will build muscle along with loosing weight or toning.
There are many people that can lose a pound of weight every day but it is not healthy to do so. Losing one to two pounds a week is a good amount to lose.
