Yes, because I would have it whether or not I was tested. If I did not have it, then I wouldn't have that hanging over me, and if I did have it, then I could prepare for my death and/or medical care.

It is important to find out if you know things run in your family history. You need to know if you are a carrier because you can pass that on to any children you have and that's not fair to them since they didn't ask to be born and it would be very selfish of anyone to have children knowing those kids might end up with a genetically influenced disease that you passed on to them just becasue you were too selfish to use Birth Control or get sterilized so no other human beings would have to be born with that problem just becasue you wanted to have kids. It's better to adopt in that situation.
