What would cause a '01 Camaro automatic to act like the top speed limiter kicks in at 50 mph only sometimes under full throttle?

you should change your fuel filter every 30k miles. If your filter is dirty you will drain your fuel line and the engine will bog under acceleration. you can buy a new filter most everywhere car parts are sold, but be careful of fuel under pressure when changing the old one. Likely a transmission problem. Trans isn't shifting properly. Take it to a mechanic.....SOON!
