What is your definition of "pulling"? What are you trying to describe?
On older 300ZX's equipped with a timing belt it will cause internal engine damage if the belt breaks as they are interference engines.
There are several things that can cause an engine to turn over but not start. The most common cause is a lack of fuel.

Hard driving can cause an engine to use oil, but not drastically. Coolant level should not be effected unless the engine overheats.
Looking at the engine from the front their is a crank angle sensor on right hand side of engine on front cover that is splined to the cam splines can wear out or connector can get corrosion in it, with engine running move wires on connector and see if engine dies if not remove sensor and check splines to see if they are dry and worn, if dry their will be rust in female end and splines will be worn to a point.
Driving through flood water would cause the ignition to fail and stall the engine.
No petrol's a good place to start!
You've run out of fuel...
no oil in engine or water in radiator will cause engine to seriously o/heat! and eventually seize! major engine damage!!
Gasoline pedal/air intake pedal
get an engine diagnostic scan.
Blue smoke is caused by engine oil being burnt by the engine.
