I would guess that whilst man has been walking (hunting and gathering) throughout our entire existence, the idea of walking for pleasure would have developed during the 19th Century when people started to understand the concept of leisure time and discovering undiscovered places.

yea but it wouldn't be comfortable at all and if you do this please get a video of you doing this and put it on youtube so i can get a better picture of it. it would be like trying to hike in two walking casts
Call It Spring boots are not very good for hiking. They are designed for casual and dress up events rather than hiking. They would not be very comfortable on a hiking expedition.
