your master or slave cyl could be busted. see if you have pressure on your pedal when pressed in and does it return.
also you have bushings that could be warn and not allow the gear to go in or shift forks that guide the shifter in could be busted
if its all of them then its most likely going to need a new clutch

i think, depending on the year, that problem is caused by a factory defect.
Sometimes the gas cap is not close tight or when change grade of gas but it will go off.
Automatic transmission fluid would likely cause a standard transmission to overheat and wear the gears at a high rate.
With my Forenza , Sometimes when backing the check engine light will come on and stay on ,and the car runs rough as it is low on power . After Turing it on and off a few times , the check engine light will turn off and the car will run normal . What's the cause of this .
blown fuse under hood check all brake fuses....also could be bad relay at shifter u have to take shifter loose to replace at bottom of shifter
