Exhaust leak? Bad air pump?
It's not going to be an air pump. It's either an exhaust leak or a body hole. Look for wet or moldy spots in the carpeting or the trunk. It the exhaust loud? Common exhaust leaks are manifold-to-cat gaskets (donuts) and the top of the muffler. On my 1987 Taurus I had an exhaust pipe heat shield fall off - unfortunately my engine had a small oil leak that dripped right onto that pipe! Talk about stench... The odor was being pulled into the air intake for the heater.

Ur exhaust....
in the exhaust possibly but in the cabin more often means leaking heater core.
Check the exhaust for oil on it. A leak is most likely blowing onto the exhaust and burning off.
You may have an exhaust leak. Better get it checked out. Any exhaust leaking into the cabin/passenger area can be potentially hazardous and deadly.
No, it will not. If you have gas smell in cabin it means that the gas line is leaky. And you better find that leak.
The burning smell from the exhaust pipe may be caused from oil or transmission fluid leaking into the exhaust pipe. For example, if your turbo is failing on the car, then that can cause leakage from the manifold into the exhaust pipe. There may be other reasons, too, which other people will be better articulating.
yes nd it will also give of a oily smell with it
Inside the cabin, a leaky heater core can do that. Outside the cabin, any engine coolant leak that drips onto the hot engine will do that also and if the smell seems to be coming from the exhaust, you may have a cracked head and/or a bad head gasket. Take it to a trusted mechanic to be diagnosed.
what might cause black smoke from exhaust and a bad smell from a 94 ford explorer
The first thing to look for would be an exhaust leak. Check for a fuel leak on the top of the engine.
No thats something else you should probably go to a garage to sort out if you can smell gas !
your catayltic converter is bad and needs to replaced
