A loose connection, a short, a blown fuse, the year, make and model info would help also.
Fault in the circuit, bad or loose ground, bad relay or fuse, CECU failure or multiplexing error in vehicles so equipped.
Our Vehicles have HORRIBLE Instrument Cluster Assemblies in them. Get it checked.
This is usually due to a bad ground on the instrument cluster.
instrument cluster is shorted out or corroded
Bad stepper motor in instrument cluster. Very common problem. Search for "speedometer whizard" in Google.
A failed instrument cluster.
remove cluster fuse to reset cluster....if still not working properly replace cluster
There are numerous reasons that can cause the instrument panel to stop working. In my case, I found a pin on one of the printed circuit boards that had never been soldered. This pin supplied 12 DC power from one board to the other and was black from arcing over the years. This was an intermittent problem that would cause the entire panel to come and go. I soldered the pin and the instrument cluster has been working flawlessly ever since. Bad grounds are often the cause for electrical problems in Corvettes.
My dash lights went out and the cause was a bad alternator. new alternator fixed the problem
There are two primary causes for the entire instrument cluster to fail on a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. The most likely is that an instrument cluster panel fuse has blown. One can also inspect to make sure the wiring harness and connectors to and from the cluster are intact and undamaged. If the problem is limited to the cluster itself there are services available that can repair and refurbish instrument clusters, often on an exchange basis.
A blown fuse. Or a connection problem within the instrument cluster
Yes.
if you mean stick as in not working for both to [stick] not work its probably the multiplug on the back of the instrument cluster loose or poorly connected. or the Fuse for control panel needs to replace
