I read another fellows comments about his Ranger RPM going to 2000 to 2200 RPM whenever he shifted gears on his 5 speed manual transmission and he said that it turned out to be his throttle position sensor
If the clutch is froze, I assume disengagment is the problem. Check the freeplay, or if it is hydraulic, check to see if linkage is disengaging the throwout bearing. Unless you know what you are doing, take your ranger in to an A.S.E. certified auto technician. A faulty clutch system can cause serious damage and injury to you and other's.
If you accelerate and the transmission shifts to a lower gear of the overdrive disengages the RPMs will increase. If the vehicle has a manual transmission a slipping clutch will cause the RPMs to increase if the clutch is defective.
First check for mechanical interference from the clutch mechanism to throttle linkage.
If it grinds going in and out of gear, your clutch is bad. If not, look at your linkage binding inside the transmission. Good luck. Clutch out of adjustment, or low of transmission lube.
the most common reason for this would be a worn throwout bearing sizing when hot or worn fingers on clutch plate both require removal of transmission to fix
the clutch release could have broken , the brakes could have locked, the engine could have blown, the transmission could have broken. These are mostly things that have happened to our ranger. It depends what you mean by stops
A worn out clutch release bearing would cause a whining sound when you put your foot on the clutch.
A slipping clutch.
your syncros might be worn or the shifter might need a new plasice ball on the end or the whole shifter needs rebuilt
Oiling the a/c clutch will cause the clutch to slip and burn up........
bad clutch cable, or not enough oil on the clutch plates.
There is no hydraulic fluid in the transmission. However, there is hydraulic fluid in the clutch system. If the clutch fluid reservoir is empty it would cause clutch not to operate.
