I have a '93 with a blinking airbag light. I have been told by a couple of repair places that the only way to fix it is to take apart the entire dash on the car which would be very very expensive. Mine has been blinking for three years.
Reset the light. Turn everything off. Turn the key on and off when the light just goes off. Keep doing this several times, the light will reset
The airbag light stays on when the computer detects a malfunction and sets a code.
If it's a driver's side air bag it could be a broken clock spring under the horn pad. The light is blinking it doesn't say which side. How would you know.
If the cause of the code was fixed the light would have gone off on its own.
The computer has detected a fault in the airbag circuit.
The airbag light would have nothing to do with emissions. If they are doing a safety inspection, it would fail.
The light come on when the system detects a problem and sets a trouble code. You should have it diagnosed by a trained technician. The airbag system is not for do it yourselfers. The light is on because there is a problem with the air bag system.
The S light blinking is a good thing as that means you have an electrical problem rather than a mechanical problem. Take the car to a professional for repair.
