Is it an "auto dimming" instrument backlighting arrangement? Does it just show you the LED' of the clock, radio station, Driver Information Center? Does it get really dim on the LED's at night when the headlights turn on? I have this problem an am looking for answers. So far, the fuses are fine, I get power. I don't know whether it is the auto-dimmer light sensor on the dash or the traditional light switch at the left. Before shot-gunning it with parts, I thought I would do a little research.

Addition:

The problem is within the circuitboard itself, I refurbish these boards because I know they are a common problem with Centuries and Regals. Contact me at ANCTechnologies at Hotmail.com and I would be more than willing to help you.

If the gas gauge on your 1994 Grand Prix is not working is there is a fuse to be checked and if so where is it located?

More likely the problem is with the reostat on the sending unit,(in the tank).

What ia a reostat switch?

A rheostat is a variable resistor. Examples are a volume control knob or an instrument panel dimmer switch. As the resistance is increased in the switch the volume will lower or the instrument panel lights will dim.

How can you get the automatic headlights to work on a 98 ford expedition?

turn up the reostat to the left of the steering wheel.if that isn't working the light sensor may be bad or not set properly.that is in the dash under the small cutouts in the cupped part halfway between the front of dash and windshield

I need to see if the wires coming out of the ceiling are working. I touched a white wire to one prong and a black wire to one prong of a lamp and turned the a reostat but nothing happened.?

You need to learn how to use a volt-ohm meter or hire an electrician. If the wire were hot you could have been injured.

What would be wrong with a gas gauge on a 99 Grand Am when it doesn't tell the right amount?

a Bad Gauge, the reostat on the sending unit, a bad ground at the sending unit are the first thoughts that come to mind. Pukenstein@aol.com I don't follow how the battery is relavant as stated below. check the battery aslo...

Why is your blower only on fast?

Your blower is on fast because a relay that acts as a reostat that lowers the voltage to the blower depending what setting you put it in has blown out. Replace this relay and all will be well again. The relay in question is usually called a 'Blower Motor Resistor', is usually easy to replace yourself if you can operate a screwdriver, and usually costs between $15 and $50.

How do you replace the rear door latch of a 1999 ford E150 van?

Drill out the two screws that hold the latch bracket. They are fat screws, so use a 1/4 inch bit in the torx holes. I just did this, and was finally able to open the piece of crap door that ford built. they use 1950s technology on 1990s autos. check out their retro interior light reostat.

Where do you hook the power wire for some recently installed aftermarket gauges on a 1991 Toyota Celica ST?

At the fuse box. There should be a ACC.spot In your fuse box. This spot will allow power only when the key is in the on pos.And kill power when off.If you do not want gauage lights to light up tell you turn on the headlights or dash lights. You must go to the headlight reostat or switch. Good Luck Darwin B.

What fuse controls the dash lights in a 2003 Ford Taurus?

buy a flash lightIt may be fuse 29. You should have pulled out and checked every fuse, one by one, in the fuse box - I think you did and you still ask this question? You won't get out of jail free here because that fuse feeds the instrument panel dimmer control reostat (varialble resistor or volume control affair on the light switch)which then feeds a small to large voltage to the dimmer control regulator module that then controls the amount of voltage supplied to the high side of the light bulbs in the dash. Simple yes. No the ground side of the lights may be "open". The circuit may be providing voltage to the lights but the other side may have lost it's connection to "ground and the return path to the battery (-) post. Fun ain't it? Tracking this small problem can be a real bit-h because of the taped up wiring harnesses and lack of information as to where the pertinent parts are located. You repair this and you can maybe go to work at Ford.Discipline the sucker! A good solid slap to the left side of the hump just forward of the steering wheel works well. Take the flashlight back for a refund.Encuentro concebido entorno a las consolas! Una buena bofetada para el lado izquierdo de la joroba justo delante del volante funciona bien. If an electric scooter doesn't work can you put a new motor on the scooter and have it run?

all have motors for sale The answer of course is yes. You can change the motor on a non functioning electric scooter. First you will need to check some things. Are you sure the motor is the part that is not working? Could be a reostat that feeds the juice to the motor and so when you put the new motor on it will not work either. A simple question, are the batteries charged? Does the motor receive the amperes it needs to function? Last is it a AC or DC motor that you are wanting to replace? DC will not work on AC and vice versa. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Lonnie Questions on GAS scooters? justiceforall@carolina.net

How do you change the fuel pump on a 2001 Chevy Blazer?

first you need to lift the truck up. i usually start with removing drive shaft(makes kife easier and a chance to check my u-joints properly) undo filler neck clamps at the back of tank remove vacuum lime on the front. lower the tank by removing the 15mm nut and bolt only drop it about a foot though now you can unplug your sending unit and remove your fuel lines. once down remove the sending unit lock ring should turn to uunlock and the pump is inside the sending unit i recommend changing your fuel reostat at the same time they are known to be problems now reverse and done

How can you fix a 1992 Ford Explorer's gas gauge that always reads empty?

if you can get to the wires without droping the tank. you may have a bad ground start at the gauge in the dash and see if it pluged in. look for a fuse in the fuse box. In addition to the above, there is a reostat on the fuel pump/sender that is controlled by a float. IT is a small plastic piece with fine wire windings on it that I have seen wear out. You'll have to drop the tank for this one. Pukenstein@aol.com If the above solutions didn't work. Check for a bad fuel float. Less than $5. Drop tank remove fuel sending unit. Float is more than likely full of gas causing empty reading.( mine was)Disconnect battery before starting. About 2hrs and some help from a freind. jes
