Catholic AnswerRoman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the Catholic Church.

.

This is reality, the Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit. This is God we are talking about here. Everything that exists, only exists because the Almighty keeps holding it in existence. God knew from before He created the world, that Martin Luther would be born because with God there is no time, He just exists; as a matter of fact, He IS existence, and nothing exists outside of God. This is reality, to speculate about another world, you would need to ask your question in the fiction section.

What would happen to the Catholic Church if Martin Luther were never born?

.Catholic AnswerThe Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, formed from His Side as He hung dead on the cross and was pierced by a sword. The Catholic Church has always been guided by God in the person of the Holy Spirit, and will be here until the end of the world - we have Our Blessed Savior's Word on that, and He is Truth, Itself. That is what the Church is, and will be, regardless of whether anyone is born, or decides to follow Our Blessed Lord or not.

The problem between the Catholic church and the Protestant Movement?

You know Catholics and Protestants are very controversial when it comes to their different believes, for you to truly understand what the problem would be, then you would most likely go back into history and read about Martin Luther King the founder of all Protestants and be sure not to confuse Martin Luther King Jr. (African American who wrote the poem ''I have a Dream'') to Martin Luther King the founder since they are both, after all, completely different people. Martin Luther King Jr. was named after Martin Luther King since his mother truly admired him or so the rumors say. Despite these, Martin Luther King was a strong faithful Christian and Catholic who strongly believed in the Church. Back in the day, only the wealthiest of all people were allowed to read the Bible and it was a privilege since the Bible was yet not translated into different languages. Since Martin Luther King was one of the most supportive people of the Church, one of the priests granted him permission to translate the Bible. It was then when Martin Luther King realized that the Bible itself was very different from what Catholics would preach. There were no saints mentioned in the Bible and it was then when he realized that the Bible contained a different interpretation from the one he was given and taught. Angry, it was then that he decided to face the priests about the lies that they were teaching and the misunderstanding that they were told. The priests soon turned on Martin and told him to forget what he learned from the Bible and change what they believed in. He didn't agree with such things and realized that the Catholic Church had one purpose only. To rule and power. He then left the Catholic Church and started the Protestant Movement where they could finally preach the true definition of the Bible and its beliefs. There are many different stories about Martin Luther King and what really did happen. This is one of the many popular stories that are told about the problems between Protestants and Catholics.

What were the main reasons for Martin Luther breaking away from Catholic Church?

b/c the people involved in the catholic church used to take money from the people and used it to build churches with gold and rich stuff and themselves and Martin Luther didn't like it.AnswerMartin Luther saw corruption creep into the Church. One of his main concerns was the selling of indulgences - certificates 'guaranteeing' a certain amoount of time off 'purgatory' for a deceased person which were sold at an inflated price to the poor, at their most vulnerable time. Although the money was supposed to be used for the priest to say masses in the deceased person's memory, this often didn't happen and the money was simply pocketed by the priests. Luther stated in his own writings that, having read Paul's letter to the Romans, he realised that God was saying that salvation came through faith, and not by belonging to, or paying into, any organisation. As a result of this concern, he nailed his 'theses' to the church door at Wittenberg, heavily criticising the Church. The result of this was the Church breaking with him as much as he breaking from the Church as he was excommunicated by the Pope. Thus began with Luther (plus Calvin, Zwingli and others) the Protestant Reformation, and the Protestant Church was formed. To be fair to the Church (now the Roman Catholic Church) it was also spurned into starting its own Reformation, cleaning up its act and moving forward.

What did Martin Luther accomplish in church history?

Martin Luther nailed his thesis to the door of the church in 1595 naming many charges against the Catholic church. One example of the wrongs practiced in that day was the marketing of 'Indulgences' or permission to sin for profit. This thesis was the catylist for a church split. At the time the Catholic church had a monopoly over the entire continent of Europe. The Catholic church had brought order and education to Europe which began to reform and pull them out of the Dark Ages. So Luther suffered many long days and nights of indecision before choosing to oppose their power. First reason being, he knew they would use their power to discredit him, even judge and execute him. More importantly, he considered the consequences of the church collapsing and sending Europe back into another Dark Age. Fortunately, that didn't happen, but splitting the church forced the Catholic church to compete and therefor reform and correct many of those bad practices. He also translated the Bible from Latin into language of the common man so they could read it for themselves whereas before, only the educated via the church or the very rich could read it. This too, forced the Catholic church to accountability because their parishioners could now see for themselves how far the church had strayed from the direction of their source material. Not only were new denominations born of Luther's actions, but the original was pulled back under the authority of the scriptures.
