it may be because there is another problem in the brake system
The brake light on most vehicles is not only an indicator that the parking brake is on, but that there is a problem with the system.
You might have an ABS problem or a problem with the brake master cylinder. Check the fluid level in the brake reservoir.
My owner's manual says it's either low brake fluid or a faulty parking brake switch.
If your parking lights are on and your left brake light doesn't work, the brake may have burnt out. You might also have a wiring problem.
It means that your parking brake is on. :-) Or there is a problem with the brake system, as in low brake fluid.
It is possible the hand/foot parking brake may be partially engaged. With the foot parking brake, you may have to pull on the release handle while simultaneously with your foot, pull back on the parking brake.
I have a 1992 Chevrolet lumina and I had the same problem. what that means is your brake fluid is at a low level so check that.
2 things could be the problem. If the "Brake" light is on that usually comes on when you set the parking brake then it could be the brake fluid is low. Check that. If it is the "Brake Lamp" light then check your brake lights. 1 of them could be out.
Hi there. Did you ever get info for this problem? I have a similar problem
