Rumors are .. 2012. However, this rumor is based on an incorrect interpretation of Mayan prophecies, in which the calendar ends at 2012. According to John Major Jenkins and other researchers, the Mayans believed that the world would undergo a transformation in 2012. That's not the same thing as the end of the earth. No one can name the year with certainty. The planet Earth may eventually die, but scientists don't expect that to happen anywhere near our present lifetime or even in the near future.

We don't know exactly when the world going to end, but we do know it will not happen until 1000 years after the return of Jesus Christ, and that hasn't happened yet.

We don't have any scientific reason to expect the Earth to cease to exist for at least five billion years or so (we expect it to become uninhabitable by humans much sooner than that, in only around a billion years, and it will be getting pretty uncomfortable by 500 million years from now or thereabouts).
When you're dealing with spans that long, picking out a particular 100 year stretch would be far more precision than the data could possibly warrant.
If you're wanting a religious answer, then you'd need to specify which religion; they mostly have different ideas. The Bible, for example, explicitly states that no one knows when the end will come except for the Father (Jesus Himself says Hedoesn't know exactly, though he knows it will be "soon" ... that was about 2000 years ago, so "soon" apparently meant something different to Him, or possibly he was just making the point "you don't know when it will happen, so you might as well plan for it happening any time now"). Anyone who simultaneously claims they're a Christian and that they know when the world will end has some 'splainin' to do.

∙ 13y agoDecember 21,2012 The Mayan Calender ends on that date so people now think that the world will end on that day now. I don't think it is going to happen though.
On a more serious note, though, the earth will be swallowed up by the expanding sun in about 4.5 - 5.0 billion years. But the earth will become uninhabitable as an earlier consequence of the sun's normal life cycle in about one billion years - so no need to push the panic button yet.
