It is a misconception that women in China gained the right to vote in 1949. Though that year is published in many books and some Historians go by this date because 1949 marks the year that the Chinese Communist party came to power.
This date however discounts the entire suffrage movement and the documentation that had been implented years prior. Women actually gained the right to vote in the year 1947, with the implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of China.

∙ 13y agoIn the United States, Chinese men were granted voting rights under the terms of Section 1 of the Fifteenth Amendment, ratified in 1870. Chinese women could not vote until the Nineteenth Amendment (women's suffrage) was ratified in 1920.
Amendment XV, Section 1
"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

∙ 14y agoChinese women were never denied the right to vote. As it is a communist country, communism stresses equality among all people. Although elections in China are only held on the lowest level of government (municipal), women and men are treated as equals.
