He only served about 3 months of his last term, so about 3 years and 9 months were left.
He died just a little less than three months into his 4th term, so he had just over 3 years and 9 months left to serve.
Polio
Polio
Polio was very common in FDR's time and it was orginally thought that was what he suffered from.Years later a study suggested it was Guillain-Barré syndrome. See "What was the cause of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's paralytic illness?" (See the related links).
Most notably? Social Security.
President Franklin Roosevelt was diagnosed with Polio in 1921 when he was 39 years of age. The disease left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down.YES! and no he was not born with it
Because he humped hoes left and right.
Theodore Roosevelt left the Presidency in 1909. He died of heart failure in 1919.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Taddy Roosevelt was the son of James (Rosy) Roosevelt, who was the first son of James Roosevelt, the father (by his second marriage to Sara Delano) of Franklin Roosevelt. Taddy attended Harvard briefly, but left school to marry and never returned. Taddy and his wife remained married throughout their lives. He did not rely on his inherited money and bequeathed it all to the Salvation Army when he died. Franklin Roosevelt was Taddy's uncle, though he was actually younger than Taddy. Franklin blamed Taddy for causing Franklin's father's death by heart attack, which occurred shortly after Taddy declared his intention to marry a woman deemed to be unworthy of his station in life. Franklin ostracized Taddy in the Roosevelt extended family and never relented from his position.
Franklin Roosevelt contracted polio which left him paralyzed from the waist down. He had to have a wheelchair to get around after that.
He never had the chance to do things after his presidency because he died at the start of his 4th term in 1945 in Warm Springs , GA before the end of World War II.
polio left him unable to walk
