if your aim is to get a result based on the capability of the body to sustain its own blood supply it would be after 120 days

the lifespan of a red blood cell is 120 days, so after 120 days all the donor blood will be gone and all the hemoglobine that has been measured will have to have been produce by the patient in question.

Where do the blood go if you have a transfusion but your hemoglobin is still low?

Hemoglobin is the fluid that transports blood cells. If you get a transfusion of red blood cells, they would be in the hemoglobin even if it is low.

What is done for low hemoglobin and having blood transfusion?

blood transfusion and low iron

Hemoglobin is 7 should you take blood transfusion?

YES Actually...most physicians transfuse at a hemoglobin of less than 8. That is my threshold for transfusion. If a patient's Hemoglobin drops below 8 they are not properly oxygenating blood to end organs, so transfusion benefits outweight risks.

How can you blood level go from 6.6 to 7.9 with in 8 hrs the test was done at the same lab?

By blood level I assume that you are referring to Hemoglobin measurement. This rise in hemoglobin is possible in many different scenarios. If the patient was receiving a transfusion of packed red blood cells, we would expect to see a 1.0 mg/dL rise in hemoglobin post-transfusion. Another way this might be possible is due to the variation in instrumentation, repeat analysis of the same sample do not always result in the same value.

Is 7.9 hemoglobin normal?

No! I was just hospitalized for an emergency transfusion because my hemoglobin was 7.5. Follow up with your doctor as soon as possible!

Pint of blood increases how much hemoglobin?

People will receive a blood transfusion when there is a significant loss of blood, severe anemia, or as otherwise directed by a physician. On average, a transfusion of one pint of blood will raise hemoglobin levels by one gram. Hemoglobin is measured by grams per deciliter (100 milliliters) of whole blood.

How many hemoglobin increase during transfusion of 450ml of whole blood?

Usually 10 g/L

Which blood measurements provide information on a possible anemic condition?

This is the determination of hemoglobin.

How low does your Hb need to be before they do a blood transfusion?

Can a blood transfusion be caused by childbirth?
