Best Answer

Isabella I marries Ferdinand II of Aragon on October 19, 1469, and laid the foundation for the political unification of Spain, joining their territories together to shape the area we today call the nation of Spain. The Reconquest--efforts to drive out the Moors & Jews--lasted until 1492. By 1512, the unification of present-day Spain was complete.
