It is unknown when exactly Bjarni Herjolfsson died, as it was never documented. It is said that following the murder of his son, the kidnapping of his wife, and the selling his ship to Leif Erickson that he killed himself. It is unknown if that is true or if he survived and settled somewhere.
Bjarni herjolfsson lived about the time of Eric the Red (c. 950-1003).

Bjarni Herjulfsson was in a fierce wind while sailing from Iceland to Greenland. He named the entire St. Lawrence area Vinland because of all the wild grapes. They then made settlements in Newfoundland.
