∙ 13y agoThe Astro was discontinued after the 2005 model year, along with the GMC Safari. With the Chevrolet Express and its GMC counterpart in the lineup, and new side-impact standards which would force a re-engineering of the Astro/Safari, GM decided it was not worth keeping the Astro, popular as it had been.

I think they replaced it with the Chevy Uplander which seems to look as much like an SUV as it does a van. The design was dropped because it did not have a driver passenger door, the van was built on a box frame and was to ecpensive to build. Best mid size van ever,
