The Family From Which Islam GrewThe origins of Islam must be traced back to the family from whence it began in order to have a fuller understanding of it's teachings. I haven't studied Islam itself, but I know that the family from which we get Islam sprang out of an unholy relationship between God's chosen man, Abraham, & his wife's maid, an Egyptian named Hagar. God had promised Abraham & Sarah a son in their old age, but when the child was not immediately conceived, Sarah encouraged Abraham to have a child with her maid, which he did. The child was named Ishmael. When God gave Sarah & Abraham the son He had promised them Sarai got jealous of Ishmael & him & his mother were sent away with provisions & told to return to Egypt. Hagar didn't go to Egypt, but raised Ishmael in the deserts of the Middle East. Since Ishmael was Abraham's firstborn son, he felt as if he was entitled to the promised inheritance that God promised Abraham's descendant's. However, he was a product of Abraham's disobedience, not the product of God miraculously giving a child to two elderly people, of which one, (Sarah) was barren. God's promise was not to Ishmael, but to the child He gave to Abraham & Sarah. There was of course animosity when the inheritance fell to Issac instead of Ishmael, for in the custom of the day the firstborn would have received a double portion of all his father had. However, the inheritance that Abraham gave was already designated by God to go to he & Sarah's son.

KJV Galatians 4:22-31 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bond maid (Hagar / Agar), the other by a free woman (Sarah). But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh (Ishmael); but he of the free woman was by promise. Notice this verse: But, as then, he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

Ishmael & Issac were in constant strife. Ishmael is the father of those who made up Islam. Issac is the forefater of those who have become Christians through faith in Jesus Christ, God's Son. The Islamist hate Christians to this day. I can't pinpoint a date or era in which Islam became an orginized cult, bt this is where the bitterness sprang from.
