Tail docking for cosmetic purposes was abolished in the UK in 2007. Any dog docked after that year is barred from all show rings with a paying audience, unless it is a Working dog. Tail docking is still legal in Canada and the US.

Because working and gun dogs often injure their tails during work so removing the tail is seen as more humane than leaving it to get broken. Tail docking for cosmetic reasons has been banned in the UK because it is seen as ''cruel and unnecessary''.

Your puppy is 6 weeks old. Is it too late to carry her to the vet to have her tail clipped?

Why do you want her tail cut off??? This is a cruel and unnecessary procedure. Dogs use their tails for signalling to each other and docking tails can cause problems such as a tail dock neuroma. I'm not sure where you live, but docking dogs tails is now illegal in the UK for these reasons. Please don't cause your dog pain just for your own benefit. I'm sure she is very happy with how she looks even if you are not!

How do you cut a boxers tail off?

Go to a veterinarian. If the dog needs its tail amputated, the vet will be able to do it safely.Note that many veterinarians do not bob tails for cosmetic purposes, and even breed standards are being revised in many cases to not require ear docking or tail bobbing. You should never cut a dog's tail off, it is very painful and all dogs need tails.

What dog breeds have stubby tails?

There aren't any dogs who have naturally stubby tails, that's all down to an entirely pointless cosmetic amputation called "docking" which breeders perform on the pups, usually w/o any pain medication.
