When it starts slipping. Usually this will first start to happen in a high gear at full throttle, at the engine's torque peak (maybe 3000-4000 RPM? depends on which engine you have). I got 100K+ miles on my 1996 2WD 2.4L and I'm not easy on the clutch.

Does a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4-cylinder eng have a belt or a chain?

I have good news for you. All 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder engines cam are driven by a Timing Chain and no replacement is necessary. The Toyota Tacoma V6 has a Timing Belt that must be replaced every 100,000 miles. It is an interference engine so it is critical that it be replaced on time.

Should you replace your clutch master cylinder when replacing clutch?

At least the slave cylinder. The clutch master cylinder can be replaced at any time.

Where can you find the Clutch slave Cylinder on a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder?

The Clutch slave cylinder is located on the passenger side of the bellhousing.I recommend to replace the Clutch Master cylinder also;if either one is replaced , the other will fail in no time.

Are Toyota Tacoma dependable?

I have a 2001 Tacoma, 4 CYL, 4WD, 218,000 miles on it. Other than routine maintenance, I have never had any issues with it. I replaced brake pads at 185,000 miles for the first time. I have gone through 4 sets of tires. I have just now replaced shocks and struts. But that's it. Its a great truck.

What is the labor time on a 1993 Ford Ranger 4WD clutch change?

The clutch replacement labor time is 6.7 hours. Expect another hour if the flywheel needs to be turned or replaced. It is quite an extensive job because the transmission has to be removed.

Why after installing a new clutch in a Hyundai Santa Fe wont it go into gear?

Did you replace the thrown out bearing at the same time that you replaced the clutch? Are you sure that you seated the TO bearing correctly in the fork? Have you checked to make sure that your clutch slave and master cylinders are properly bled and functioning after the clutch change? Just a few things to get you started in the diagnosis of your problem. I will check back to see if I can help further ..... Good luck!! DB in TN

On my 1999 Toyota Tacoma when the clutch is pressed in it seems to catch on the floor and other times about half way what does this mean?

This MIGHT be a sign that the clutch return spring is wearing out. I had to replace one on my Tacoma (part ~ $30) when it began to occasionally stick in a position about 2" shy of full return. The pedal (spring) also would make squeaking sounds from time to time. When it was in this (faltering) condition it did not compromise the clutch engagement, however, I was unable to activate the cruise control. You may have found (as did I) that a gentle pull of the left toe easily brought the pedal back in to position. Until you find the replacement part....

Had starter clutch replaced on my Yamaha v star classic 1100 now it runs bad and want idle I cant ride it.?

Cams out of time.

1999 Ranger clutch overheated pulling load up long steep hill Won't shift anymore Can shift into gear with engine off but clutch engages when released at floor level from that point won't shift. HELP?

The clutch has overheated and burnt the pressure plate. The clutch and pressure plate will both probable need to be replaced. If this model has the Mazda transmission then the slave cylinder is probably located inside of the bell housing and should be replaced at the same time.

Your clutch screams when you depress the clutch pedal?

The throwout bearing is bad. This bearing sits in the center of the clutch. Replacing it requires removing the transmission from the car, and it would be a VERY good time to replace both the clutch and the pressure plate while you have it apart.

I have a 1993 Mazda protege that will shift in all gears with clutch out and engine running but will not move is it a clutch or trannsmission?

Well first of all, if your talking about a manual shift, the clutch is. more or less part of the transmission. Sounds to me like your clutch pad / disk is worn out or you burned it up. Which can happen if you slip the clutch all the time at stop lights / signs. In that case you should probably replace the clutch plate and disk replaced, and have your flywheel resurfaced.

Why is it that my Vw jetta 1998 won't shift?

I believe your clutch master cylinder is bad. I replaced mine just last year because I couldn't put my car into gear. Every time that happened I had to open the hood and free the clutch lever because the clutch master cylinder went kaput.
