excessive noise even though belt tension is good, or when power steering fluid is leaking out the shaft seal.
It will take approximately 1.5 hours to replace the power steering pump in your 2000 Dodge Durango. The exact amount of time will depend upon the person that is doing the repair.
power steering pump
possibly never, i have replaced a few for noises, most of the time the drivers have let them run dry and damages the pump but usually it is rare to replace a power steering pump, espacially on kia's. Chevy vans with 305 or 350 engines alot!
WHERE IS IT LEAKING? IS IT THE PUMP ITSELF OR THE HOSES OR THE RES?
My leaks power steering fluid -- MOST of the time is it the hoses. Try replacing those first. You'll need a good mechanic with the proper tools to replace the pump. But I'd bet one of the hoses is rotted.
If it's on the power steering pump ? You have to pull down the pump and disassemble it ,remove the pulley and pump cover screws,be careful of the impeller it has small parts that might get lost.If it's on the steering rack you have to pull it down too and you need a loy of tools ans a lot of time.
Sounds like bad power steering pump, but could also just be the power steering pump belt is slipping.
about half an hour.
time to replace the pump and rack and pinion sector

Power steering pump failure, has power brake assist line conected to it. It uses the power steering pump to bring hydraulic pressure to master cylinder.
