It all depends on the family. there is no religious angle pro or con. As the half-open or (playing card) presentation of the casketed body is most common-often shoes are omitted. Many people are buried barefoot . The Empress Elisabeth of Austria was in this category- and her robes were done up about her legs covering the area completely, There is a nice picture of her ( In Heaven) on the l908 Austrian Monarchy l00Corona, she is wearing ( naturally) an Empire gown. On the other hand if the casket is open full length- usually some sort of footwear is advisable- but floor length dresses can be used and triced up. as was done with Elisabeth, and also Sarah Bernhardt (who had had one leg amputated in l9l4). This makes the song ( Christmas shoes) look so silly, I:d say most people are buried barefoot.
It depends on the person and the culture. In North America, if the casket is open it is generally only open halfway, the bottom half of the body is not shown and the person may be barefoot or only wearing socks or stockings. If the casket is fully open footwear is more likely to be worn although although the feet may be covered with a sheet. There are exceptions to this; if a woman or girl dies young in a catholic country like Spain or Italy, they are traditionally laid out in a white coffin wearing a gown or dress and barefoot, and their feet and toes are displayed with the rest of their body. I don't know why that is and it is not common in North America.
I'm not sure about burial but in England people are usually cremated without shoes, because the shoes often contain synthetic materials which cause toxic fumes/smoke emissions . All crematory emissions are measured and recorded by computers to ensure there is minimal pollution into the atmosphere.
