The parishioners in the pews will naturally be facing the altar by design in most church sanctuaries. You are singing praise to God (Gloria = glory - Patri = father), but there is no reason why people couldn't be facing each other ... it's a wonderful expression of joy to share amongst the greater community of faith ... and "witnessing" to each other can be just as meaningful.

How did greek theatre evolve?

It started with dancing and singing to the gods at an altar in a forest glade. It then was performed in a city in front of an altar, with singing and dancing. Then an announcer was introduced to comment as the singing and dancing went on. Then a second actor was introduced, then a third, with the singing and dancing performed by a chorus, with the rest of the people becoming an audience, and the altar becoming part of a stage on which actors and chorus performed.

How do you identify which saint relics are in an altar?

To identify which saint relics are in an altar, you would typically need to refer to the documentation or inventory provided by the church or religious institution. Relics are usually authenticated and documented by the church authorities, so consulting these official records would be the most reliable way to determine which saint relics are present in the altar.

Why is the altar stone covered in linen?

The "altar stone" is the true altar. The rest of the "altar" is not strictly speaking an altar, but the support for the altar. The altar stone usually has the relics of saints contained within it, and it should be covered with three clothes, although nowadays, many places dispense with the lower two. Symbolically, the linen cloth (the topmost cloth that covers the altar) signifies the linen in which the dead body of Our Lord was wrapped.

How did Greek Theater originate?

It developed from religious rituals of dancing and singing for the god which were held in forest glades. These rituals progressively became more structured and special theatres were built for their performance. The format developed to have actors play lead roles and a chorus to support them.

What does it mean for the priest to venerate the altar?

To venerate means "respect"... At the entrance of Mass, the priest bows to the ALTAR, genuflects to the Blessed Sacrament (different forms - respect vs. adoration) ascends the steps of the altar, places both hands on the altar, bends to kiss the altar, rises... begins Mass. Should a deacon assist... at the entrance the deacon bows/genuflects... kisses the altar, but does not place his hands upon the altar.

What is an altar actually called?

An altar is actually called "the altar", although if there are many altars in a Church, they may be called by a specific name, like the main altar, the high altar, the side altar, the Blessed Virgin Mary altar, the altar of repose, the Blessed Sacrament altar, the St. Joseph altar, etc.

When should you reverence the altar?

It is customary to reverence the altar (which means while facing the altar, stand "at attention", and then make a slight bow of the head) when a Catholic visiting the inside of a Catholic church passes an altar where Holy Mass has been celebrated, but where the Blessed Sacrament is not presently reserved. (When passing an altar or a tabernacle where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved, Catholics customarily genuflect instead.)
