When trying to call your Verizon wireless phone you get the error code 1 switch 8 dash 2 which is the wireless customer you are trying to reach is not available at this time what does this mean?

from my experience with this, it usually means they didnt pay their bill, especially if its a prepaid account

No. The only Verizon Wireless phones that use SIM cards are Global Phones. SIM cards are only used for the GSM technology. Verizon Wireless runs off of the CDMA technology. So... if you switch the SIM card, the phone still won't work because it has nothing to do with the CDMA and that's what Verizon Wireless works off of. HOWEVER, you can activate a Verizon Wireless phone on an existing account by dialing *228 pressing SEND then choosing option 3.
