Because their are 2 versions of the 5.0. Ford bult a High Output version of the base 302 called the 302 HO. That engine uses the 351 firing order. After some experimentation it was determined the engine ran better using that firing order instead of the standard 302 firing order.
This is close to the Firing Order of most GM and Chrysler small block V8 engines which is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. However, I know of no V8 engine using this firing order. So, what it is I cannot say, except it appears to be the firing order for a V8.

using number one plug as front drivers side my 6 cylinder firing order is 1, 6, 3, 5, 2, 4. My engine is out of a 69 Pontiac Sunbird but I believe it is the same as the Buick engine.

you may have plug wires on wrong plugs. you need to get the firing order, find number 1 on distibutor, conenect plug wire from there to number 1 plug . then repeat this using the correct firing order and doing one plug wire at a time
You can probably find the picture using google image, however it will be routed the way the last person to adjust the distributor put it. As far as the firing order, it is normally1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
