The US Navy squadron VF 12 got them later that year, although the USN did not qualify them for carrier use till almost 2 years later. The French Navy used them right up to 1964 with combat in Indo-China and Algeria. The Corsair's final combat missions were fought in 1969 between Honduras and El Salvador, a Honduran F4U shooting down 3 El Saldorean fighters.
