Why was the KKK called the Ku Klux Klan?

"Origin The KKK was formed as a social group in Tennessee in 1866. The name probably came from the Greek word kuklos, meaning "circle." Ku Klux KlanKlan was an alliterative version of "clan," thus Ku Klux Klan suggested a circle, or band, of brothers." http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:BrcLzGXI9ZcJ:www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/nge/Article.jsp%3Fid%3Dh-694+ku+klux+klan+name+origins&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

How bad was the Ku Klux Klan?

the ku klux klan was a really racist group of sick minded people. There is actually a song about them that goes to the tune of Iron Man describing just how they went about things and how they thought about themselves and what they were like. Its quite racist, and im not racist but my friend kept singing this song and it got stuck in my head, but it really describes quite well what they were like: I am grand wizard man, Born leader of the Ku Klux Klan, I wear pointy hats, Killing f r i e k i n g n i g g e r s with baseball bats. Infact the Ku Klux Klan are still around in parts of America today and they will still kill black people if they can get away with it but there arent many left today, especially compared to the numbers that used to make up the KKK.

How do Ku Klux Klan ceremonies work?

The Ku Klux Klan ceremonies are sacred and secret. However, they do vary depending on which Klan group you are referring to. Please remember that there is no 'one Klan' anymore. There are many different Klan factions. Some Klan groups use their own made up ceremonies. However, true, traditional Klan groups use the naturalization and opening and closing ceremonies which are laid out in the 1916 Kloran (the Klans booklet of how things are to work). The ceremonies are official, and the naturalization ceremony (for inducting new members) includes being asked questions as to your qualifications as a Klansman, and taking a sacred, secret Oath of Allegiance to the Klan. However, there is no 'blood' or 'violence' involved as people often think. I hope this helps, as I will not reveal much more due to my oath to not reveal any Klan secrets to which I have sworn to uphold.

What groups like the ku klux klan and the white league afraid of?

In my view I don't see them being afraid of anything right now. Their memberships are up and the way our government is giving away the country there are a lot of very ticked off Americans out there that are willing to listen to them.

What did the ku klux klan Advocate-?

They advocated in Dubi with the cheetas. The Ku Klux Klan was originally a social fraternity, organized by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the first Grand Wizard of the Empire, in 1867. The purpose of the KKK soon developed into a paramilitary force used to oppose the Republican governments set up in the old Confederate States and used to stop Freedmen (ex-slaves) from voting, attempting to register to vote, and from trying to hold elective offices in the southern states. When the KKK became too violent, Forrest ordered it disbanded, but the violent element in the KKK continued, until the government passed the Force Acts and the Klan was extinguished in 1872. In 1915, William Simmons founded the twentieth-century version of the KKK after viewing the film, Birth of a Nation, which glorified the history of the Klan. The new Klan was not only anti black, but anti Jewish, anti foreign, and anti-Catholic. The Klan actually became a respected part of the Democratic Party and reached its peak of political power in the 1920s, when membership may have been as high as 4.5 million, including many prominent business and political leaders. The Klan declined in power when the Grand Dragon, was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of a young women whom he had taken to Chicago with him. In an attempt to lessen his sentence, Grand Dragon David Stephenson turned over evidence to the government revealing the corruption of the Klan, the names of politicians the Klan had bribed, and other illegal activities of the organization. In the 1960s, the KKK briefly rose again to try and opposed the Civil Rights movement. After numerous deaths and disappearance of civil rights workers in the South, and the burning of black churches, and the passage of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965, the Klan fell apart. Today, there are small splinter groups of the KKK but no one large national organization.

What year was the ku klux klan was organized?

Ku Klux Klan is the name of three distinct past and present far-right Christian terrorist organizations in the United States, which have advocated extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, anti-immigration and anti-communism. The first Ku Klux Klan was an organization that thrived in the South during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War. The second was a nationwide organization that flourished after World War I. Subsequent groups calling themselves the Ku Klux Klan sprang up in much of the South after World War II and in response to civil-rights activity during the 1960s. The original Ku Klux Klan was organized by ex-Confederate elements to oppose the Reconstruction policies of the radical Republican Congress and to maintain "white supremacy." It was organized at Pulaski, Tenn., in May, 1866.
