The last combat deaths of the US Civil War occurred on May 22, 1865. Three Confederate soldiers fired upon a large group of Federals at the Floyd, Virginia court house. The soldiers escaped but were soon tracked down. A huge volley of Union gunfire killed the three Rebels. They were the last combat deaths of the US Civil War.
