I am not an expert, but I do have two children. I don't think there is any correct answer, because all women are different. Although, when I was 7 months I was dialated 1 1/2cm and I stayed that way until full term. When I reached the hospital at 9 months (false labor) my doctor did an exam on me and I went from 1 1/2cm to 3 cm in about 2 hours. After one more hour, they said that if I dialated any more in the next few hours than they would keep me and go on with labor, but if not, then I was free to go home. Well, I did reach 4 cm an hour after that. So I would say that it really depends on whether or not the baby is truly ready to come. I know you are anxious, I was soooooo ready to be finished with the third trimester!! Hope this helps..
If you are between 2 and 3 centimeters dilated, you are very close to active labor. You should walk around and stay close to the doctor's office or hospital.
No. I have been dilated to 3 cm for over a week now. I was at 4 cm when I was induced with my first. My doctor said that one lady came in dilated to 10 cm (that's completely dilated) and was not in labor yet. She had to be induced.
AT 3 cm dilated, you can be placed on bed rest. I was placed on bed rest at 32 weeks and 6 days to prevent me from going into preterm labor.
time will tell could be today, tomorrow, or 2wks
It means you will probably go into labor soon. I've heard of women being dilated 3cm and not going into labor for weeks. As a reference, you must be dilated to 10cm before the doctors or midwifes will allow you to push.
i have been 1 cm for 3 weeks now! I dont think that how dilated you are really matters unless you are in active labor!
Actually you are in the Latent phase of labor.
I am also 1cm dilated and 80% effaced...1 week ago I was 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced. It is different for everyone...Although my DR. said the norm was 3 days after you lose your mucus plug...good luck
Walking!
The baby can drop in labor. It is always not easy to distinguish when the baby drops. I have had 3 children and never knew when they dropped I only knew when labor kicked in.
You are already in the first stages of labor. It could become hard labor in a matter of minutes or days. Keep a close eye on things and get to the clinic or hospital (or call your doctor or midwife if you are having a home birth) as soon as thigns begin to change.
It totally depends! If you think you are going into labor, call your doctor or just go into the hospital. They will be able to tell you. I was 3 cm dilated for weeks and weeks! I got up to 70% effaced by 38 weeks. I went into labor and went into the hospital, however they sent me home because I didn't dilate past 3 cm in the entire hour I was there. 6 hours later I had my baby! So it happened very quickly for me. Pretty much RIGHT when I got home from my first trip to the hospital I started going into true and hard labor! Good Luck. :)
