An aching back is only one of a plethora of other symptoms, so an aching back alone does not mean that you are pregnant. Along with other symptoms, however, you just might be: amenorrhea (missing period - biggest symptom in the beginning), sore or fuller breasts, tummy feels fuller (bloated), morning sickness, nausea, frequent urination, darkening of areola, blue and pink lines under skin on breasts and/or abdomen, food cravings or turn-offs, changes of color of vaginal and cervical tissue to bluish violet (what doctors look for), softening of cervix and uterus (what doctors look for), enlarging uterus and abdomen (what doctors look for), uterine artery pulsation that you can feel yourself (something that doctors look for), and others. Doppler detects a fetal heartbeat as early as 10 to 12 weeks.
